Regular price $149.95The history of this château dates back to 1650 when antoinette de guillemottes and etienne lafon married and the name lafon rochet was born. 150 years later, the château is considered one of the most important producers of saint-estèphe. the rest of its history was punctuated by difficult events such as the revolution and the phylloxera crisis, but the château overcame them and became the 4th grand cru classé in 1855. the château then had to undergo a succession of auctions before being bought in 1960 by guy tesseron who managed it with his son michel and his sister princess caroline poniatowska. at the head of the château since 2004, basile tesseron, michel's grandson and therefore heir of the new generation, is a passionate winegrower who defines his profession as a work of patience. he manages his estate using traditional methods and gives special treatment to the vines because ""the vine is king"". the estate is now run according to biodynamic principles and is considering certification. the 1990, a stunning effort for this property, offers further proof of just how successful 1990 turned out to be for st.-estephe. very dark ruby, with a tightly knit nose of black fruits, this massively endowed wine is one of the most powerful and concentrated lafon-rochets.
